normality achieved

Back to normal classes today (plus an extra one, in musical theater-style dance). It went well.

Ironically, although I’ve been missing Monday classes due largely to dancing in professional productions, I felt more like a competent and capable dancer today than I have in a while. It guess doesn’t hurt that I was back on familiar ground: ballet will always be my first language.

Anyway, that’s it for now. 4 hours in the studio today. Hoping I’ll sleep well! 😛

ballet training: 4 years or so of learning that you don’t actually know how to stand up straight, followed by a lifetime of doing the wrong thing with your arms and not jumping high enough

Happy Spring XD

So it’s the second day of Spring, and we seem to have something like four inches of snow on the ground. I was going to update my header banner image to the Spring one today, but I think I’ll skip it for now!

YMBADI

You mught be a dancer if you’ve ever paused in the midst of making a sandwich at 11:30 PM[1] to run through some choreography because you accidentally brushed your foot against the floor and suddenly tge waltz turns make perfect sense.

  1. Which you’re making because you returned home from class at 8:30 and promptly forgot to eat dinner

Stand Back—I’m A Proffesional

You Guys I Am So Itchy

wash me throughly

You guys, I took actual shower this morning, and it was amaaaaaaaaazing.

I say this as someone who is normally not a huge fan—someone who generally regards showers as perfunctory and boring—but after ten days of sponge baths? That. Felt. Good.

Forgot To Mention

I only learned about this yesterday, or I’d totally be in Detroit right now, but Ballet Detroit has an Open Session this week. If you’re in the region, drop everything, go, suffer, and return stronger.

Rayevskiy brings the Vaganova, but if you’re afraid you can’t hang, don’t worry. I couldn’t make it 100% of the way on every exercise either, but it was still worth it to take his class. I really wish I could go, because a week of Rayevskiy would be really, really good for all my goals right now.

Go learn from this terrifyingly-beautiful-but-actually-really-sweet danseur. (Image ganked via screengrab direct from BalletDetroit.)

Since I can’t go, though, you should. You’ll wind up a beast in the best possible sense of the word.

PS: it took me an hour to write this because my stupid computer is terrible :/ Time for some troubleshooting.
